Things to Consider Before Buying a Built-In Gas Grill
If you are one of those people who don’t get the appeal of a built-in grill, I have a few things to tell you. Being a BBQ lover for more than 40 years, I have tried enough grills to know what works and what does not. As a result, I have learned to appreciate certain things about built-in outdoor grills.
Designed adapt to its architecture and style, the best built-in grills are capable of effectively becoming a part of your home. Even better, they can add to its value. Sleek, elegant and stylish, a good built-in gas grill can truly elevate your backyard. What is more, they are convenient and practical for a variety of social situations where people need to be fed (and fed well).
For the reasons I just mentioned, built-in gas grills are a great option for those who love to have people over for gatherings of any kind. Large families who love outdoor cooking can also benefit greatly from having one of these machines built right into their home. Protected from the elements, perfectly stable and ready to be fired up at any time, grills of this kind can be a great addition to any home with enough backyard space.
There are certain things you need to take into account before deciding on a specific built-in gas grill model:
Main Cooking Area
All built-in gas grills have a main cooking area that is measured in square inches. There may be additional usable surfaces on the grill but the main cooking area refers only to the grate-covered area that you can use for direct grilling. Of course, the larger a grill’s cooking area is, the more food you will be able to prepare at the same time.
Dimensions and Embedding Space
A built-in grill’s dimensions are terribly important as they will determine whether the machine can be successfully embedded into the architecture of your home. For that reason, it’s terribly important to make sure everything fits properly before making definitive decisions.
Burners
Most built-in grills have three or four burners. However, some have more. Logically, the more burners it has, the more heat a grill is capable of producing. At the same time, having various burners allows you to have different temperatures in different areas of the grill.
BTU
Standing for British Thermal Units, BTU measures the total output of a grill’s burners.
Additional Features
Many outdoor grills offer additional features such as built-in thermometers, warming racks, LED lights and so on. While they are not essential, these extra features can make your life easier and your grilling better.

Features and Benefits of Built-In Delta Heat Grills
As was already mentioned, Delta Heat built-in gas grills are high-end cooking appliances for outdoor use. Manufactured in the United States of America, these grills are high in quality and exceptionally user-friendly. Moreover, they are powerful and efficient, resulting in the ability to cook large amounts of meat quickly and to perfection. Up next, I will go into some of the most salient characteristics and features that Delta Heat grills have to offer.
Materials and Construction
Without a doubt, one thing that helps Delta Heat grills stand out is their material quality. Made almost entirely of stainless steel of a high grade, every model in the manufacturer’s catalog boasts a superb level of quality. Of course, this results in durability, resistance, and enhanced performance.
One important element that’s not made of stainless steel in any of these grills is the grate. This is because cast-iron is better at retaining and evenly distributing heat than most other materials in the world. In addition to all this, each and every one of the products made by Delta Heat is expertly constructed, ensuring durability over time and preventing errors that could be detrimental in the long run.
Apart from benefiting their construction, the fact that every piece of these grills is perfectly welded adds to their stylishness. Clean, angular and smooth, every aspect of their design is pleasant to look at. This is further helped by that most of the grills made by this manufacturer include mirror-polished accents, ceramic interior finishes, and a double-lined hood. It’s not all about the looks, however, as these features help the grill resist both direct heat and radiant heat.
Dimensions and Spaciousness
There is no doubt that, in the world of built-in gas grills, dimensions and spaciousness are key factors. Luckily, all the products offered by Delta Heat excel in those two aspects. Without a doubt, each of them is compact and well-designed enough to be easily fitted into most outdoor grill structures. It’s important to take into account, however, that there are important variations between models. Generally speaking, however, these models come in three sizes: 26″, 32″ and 38″.
Design
When I decided to get a built-in gas grill, I knew it couldn’t be ugly or impractical. Moreover, it needed to be functional and versatile without sticking out like a sore thumb. Thankfully, the grills manufactured by Delta Heat are as stylish as they are convenient. Featuring large cooking areas and well-organized, they provide enough space to cook large quantities of food efficiently. Additionally, they have easy-open hoods that provide protection against external elements. What is more, many of the Delta Heat grill models available on the market boast a large heating space when the hood is down, helping the heat evenly spread in order to be more effective.
Main Features
In order to provide as much power as needed to cook big pieces of meat efficiently, Delta Heat grills use at least three high-quality burners that are strategically distributed within the device’s body. To create the perfect surface for the food to cook onto, these grills feature large cast-iron grates. Apart from distributing heat in an even and controlled fashion, these grates are capable of producing beautiful sear lines.
Whether they are three, four or five, the high-quality burners included in all Delta Heat products are stable enough to provide a source of continuous, uninterrupted heat. Made completely out of stainless steel, these burners are incredibly reliable. This is true even if you, like me, are the type of person that will cook and grill all day long. By eliminating the possibility of flare-ups, the designs of these built-in grills are even more dependable.
Performance
In terms of performance, all the products made by Delta Heat are worth talking about. For one, they are capable of producing astounding amounts of heat without sacrificing stability, efficiency or even safety. That amount of heat, however, would be dangerous if not properly distributed by the patented design that all Delta Heat grills boast. Reigned in by the advanced design of these grills, however, the concentrated amount of heat that these grills are able to produce allows for a quick, even and efficient cooking process.
Additional Features
Apart from all its main features, Delta Heat built-in gas grills often have additional features that can help you modify, enhance or improve your cooking. Without a doubt, one of the most notorious is one that all models have: an advanced control panel with LED lights. Additionally, most models boast things like warming racks, access doors and drawers, a built-in thermometer and even bar accessories such as paper towel holders, cooler drawers and various others.

Alternatives to a Delta Heat Grill
If you are not convinced about Delta Heat grills, there are various high-quality alternatives on the market that you can choose. Up next, I will review three of the best built-in gas grills on the market. To make it fair, I will compare them to my favorite Delta Heat grill model: the Delta Heat 38”.
- BTU: 160400.
- Burners: Three.
- Cooking area: 468 square inches.
- Dimensions: 24.25 x 32 x 21.5 inches.
#1 Weber Summit S-460 Built-In Gas Grill
Large, made with high-quality materials and expertly constructed, the Weber Summit S-460 is comparable in durability and resistance to the Delta Heat 38” Natural Gas Grill. However, the latter is a bit sturdier and fairly bigger. This makes it more efficient: While the Weber model has 468 square inches of cooking space, the Delta Heat one has a whopping 625 square inches. Check it out here.
- BTU: 17400.
- Burners: Four.
- Cooking area: 580 square inches.
- Dimensions: 50.5 x 34 x 31 inches.
#2 Lion Premium Grills L90000
Regarding features, I have to say that the Lion Premium Grills L90000 has the upper hand. Offering things that the Delta Heat model doesn’t (such as flavorizer bars, Infinite control burner valves, and a snap-jet ignition system), it is more functional and versatile. Additionally, I should mention that this Weber grill has five burners instead of the Delta Heat model’s three. What’s more, it has a 1030-square inch cooking area. If you want to cook for a lot of people, this may be a great choice. Do you agree? Get it here.
- BTU: 900000.

- Cooking area: 1030 square inches.
- Dimensions: 24.2 x 40 x 21.5 inches.
#3 Bull Outdoors Products 26038 Liquid Propane Outlaw Drop-in Grill
Having been manufacturing high-quality grills for over 25 years, Bull Outdoor is one of the most recognizable brands in the game. This product, in particular, is a good example of why as it’s incredibly well-constructed, amazingly powerful and very versatile. Unlike other built-in gas grills out there, this model can be modified to use propane gas, resulting in great savings. This is further helped by the fact that, despite having an impressive 810-square inch cooking area, the grill’s design redistributes heat very efficiently, resulting in less fuel being used. If this sounds good, you can find this product here.
- BTU: 60000
- Burners: Four.
- Cooking area: 810 square inches.
- Dimensions: 25 x 30 x 22 inches.
Conclusion
Without a doubt, Delta Heat built-in gas grills can help elevate your outdoor cooking by providing power, functionality, and comfort at the same time. Effectively becoming a part of your home, they are capable of creating a new cooking area where there was none. Apart from looking great, they eliminate the need to use the kind of small portable grill that is often a hassle to set up and operate. As if all that was not enough, Delta Heat built-in gas grills are more durable and reliable than any portable or movable grill out there.
We purchased a Delta Heat 32″ grill and base (natural gas) # DHBQ32G-D over $3000
Delivered and installed 2 months ago in a coastal location. Our retailer “better than a Wilmington Grill” (which we had for 10 years. I loved all of the additional features .
It started to rust immediately . Stainless and the screws. We contacted our retailer.
The rep for Delta Heat accused us of “spilling Muriatic Acid on it” !! You have got to be kidding.
The warranty does not cover pitting or rust – which we may expect some over the years but not immediately. Fortunately Coast Roads Hearth and Patio in Shallotte, NC accepted the return . We are now buying a Wilmington Grill. Not as many options but clearly a superior product.
