And don’t forget the veggies. Whether it’s sweet potatoes, zucchini, or corn on the cob, this rub adds a bold flavor that turns everything into a delicious hit.

How to Get the Best Out of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Rub

To make the most of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Rub, it’s all about the right techniques. Here are a few tips to ensure you get bold, flavorful results every time.

Dry Rub It or Mix It Up

You can go two ways with this rub: straight-up or as part of a marinade.

  • Dry Rub: Rub it on meat, let it rest for 20 minutes, then cook. Perfect for grilling or smoking.
  • Marinade: Stir it into olive oil and lime juice for a quick marinade. Works great for roasting.

Don’t Skip the Veggies

This rub isn’t just for meat. Toss your veggies with a little olive oil and a sprinkle of the rub.

Roast them until crispy and caramelized. They’ll taste like they came from a fancy barbecue joint.

Quick Pro Tips

  • Always pat your meat dry before using the rub. Wet meat doesn’t hold seasoning as well.
  • Give the rub time to do its thing—at least 15 minutes.
  • Pair it with a smoky barbecue sauce for next-level flavor.

Juicy, fall-off-the-bone ribs with a smoky, sticky glaze? Yes, please. This recipe is a crowd-pleaser every time.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds)
  • 4 tablespoons Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Rub
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup Jack Daniel’s whiskey (optional but awesome)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F. If grilling, set it for indirect heat.
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub olive oil all over the ribs. Then generously coat them with Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Rub on both sides.
  4. Wrap the ribs tightly in aluminum foil. Pour the apple juice into the foil before sealing.
  5. Bake or grill the ribs for 2 1/2 hours. Don’t peek! The steam inside the foil makes them tender.
  6. Carefully open the foil. Brush the ribs with a mix of barbecue sauce and whiskey (if using).
  7. Crank up the heat to 400°F and cook the ribs uncovered for 10–15 minutes. This makes the sauce sticky and caramelized.
  8. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before cutting. Serve with extra sauce on the side.
