You don’t have to be a barbecue guru to make it work. A few simple tricks will have you cooking like a pro in no time.

  • Cover Generously: Don’t be shy. The more you use, the better the crust.
  • Let It Rest: After applying the rub, let it sit for about 30 minutes. This gives the flavors a chance to settle in.
  • Think Outside the Grill: Sure, it’s amazing on smoked meats. But try it on roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, or even as a seasoning for fries.

If you’re ready to see what this rub can really do, ribs are the way to go. They’re easy to make, hard to mess up, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs
  • 4 tablespoons Butcher BBQ Honey Rub
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • Aluminum foil
  • Optional: barbecue sauce for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker, oven, or grill to 250°F. Use indirect heat if grilling.
  2. Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs. Slide a knife under it, grab a corner with a paper towel, and pull it off.
  3. Spread a thin layer of mustard over the ribs. It’s not for flavor; it’s to help the rub stick.
  4. Coat the ribs generously with Butcher BBQ Honey Rub. Press it in lightly to make sure it sticks.
  5. Place the ribs bone-side down in your smoker or oven. Let them cook for 2 hours.
  6. Take the ribs out, wrap them tightly in foil, and pour in a little apple juice to keep them juicy.
  7. Put the foil-wrapped ribs back in for another 2 hours.
  8. If you like a sticky finish, brush barbecue sauce on the ribs during the last 10 minutes. Let it caramelize before pulling them out.
  9. Rest the ribs for 10 minutes, then serve. Get ready for people to ask for seconds.
