Super Easy Crockpot Brisket Recipe With Only 4 Ingredients

I used to be intimidated by brisket, always worrying it would turn out tough or too fatty. But then I discovered a recipe that guarantees tender and flavorful brisket every single time.

And the best part? It only takes 4 ingredients!

Why You’ll Love This Recipe as Much as I Do!

This recipe couldn’t be simpler. All you have to do is toss all the ingredients into the crockpot and let it do the hard work for you.

While it’s cooking, feel free to do whatever you want — catch up on emails, binge your favorite show, run some errands, or even squeeze in a nap.

I’ve made this recipe countless times, and it’s never failed me. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I’m sure it’ll become one of yours, too!

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get cooking!

For the ingredients, you’ll need:

  • Around 3 to 4 pounds of beef brisket: I suggest choosing a thicker cut because it tends to have more fat and connective tissues that add flavor to the meat.
  • Spicy brown mustard or any mustard of your choice: I like to use spicy brown mustard because the seeds are still intact, giving my dish a sharp and earthy taste.
  • Lipton onion soup mix: Instead of using bouillon or beef stock, I prefer this ready-made mix because it has all the seasonings I need in one convenient pack.
  • Water: Lastly, water is key to keeping your brisket moist and tender. It breaks down the tough fibers and makes sure your beef comes out succulent and easy to pull apart.

Once you have your 4 ingredients, you only need to follow these 5 steps. Super easy!

  1. Place your brisket in the crockpot.
  2. Generously coat the beef with spicy brown mustard — no need to measure, just eyeball it to your liking.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine a packet of Lipton onion soup mix with a cup of water, then pour it over the brisket.
  4. Set your crockpot to cook on low for about 8 hours (or overnight if you’re prepping ahead).
  5. Once it’s done, shred the brisket with two forks, and you’re all set to serve some melt-in-your-mouth goodness!

That’s about it! After following these steps, you can add some side dishes to finish off the meal.

What To Do With Leftovers

In case you have any leftovers, you can turn your brisket into:

  • Shredded brisket sandwich: Grab some buns, add some mayo, BBQ sauce, and coleslaw, and top it off with your shredded brisket.
  • Brisket tacos: Then, if you’re craving the taste of Mexico, you can make yourself some tacos, with your leftover beef as the star of the show.
  • Beef Ragu Pasta: For something a little different, stir your pre-cooked brisket into a rich tomato sauce and mix it with tagliatelle for a hearty pasta dish.
  • Brisket Grilled Cheese: Are you in the mood for something indulgent? Use your leftover brisket to make a delicious brisket grilled cheese.

As long as you’ve got some brisket left, there’s no shortage of tasty and creative recipes you can try.

Yield: 6 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 8 hours
Total Time: 8 hours 5 minutes

Cooking brisket doesn’t have to be intimidating. With this recipe, you only need 4 ingredients to create a tender and flavorful dish that pulls apart like a dream.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pounds of beef brisket (choose a cut with rich marbling)
  • Spicy brown mustard (or regular Dijon mustard)
  • 1 pack of Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 cup of water
  • BBQ sauce (optional — if you want a more smoky flavor)

Instructions

  1. Add your brisket to the basin of your crockpot.
  2. Then, squeeze as much mustard on top as you want. (I usually pour enough to cover the top layer of my beef.)
  3. Grab a separate bowl and mix your Lipton onion soup mix with a cup of water. Make sure it's dissolved completely.
  4. Pour the onion soup broth into the crockpot. Place the lid on top and let the beef cook for about 8 hours (or preferably, overnight).
  5. 8 hours later, carefully remove your cooked brisket from the pot and transfer it to a cutting board.
  6. You can slice it into thin strips or shred it using two forks.
  7. Finally, serve your brisket with any side you want, and enjoy!
