As a meat lover who wants to indulge in steaks weekly without breaking the bank, sirloin tip steak is one of the mainstays on my grocery list.
Cooked with the right techniques, this economical cut is gonna be way more tender than most people expect!
In this post, I’ll share the recipes that are part of my monthly steak rotation. They taste as delicious as dishes I’ve cooked using primal cuts such as tenderloin, sirloin, and ribeye!
1. Pan Seared Sirloin Tip Steak
Pan-searing is one of the easiest and fastest ways to cook steak perfectly.
Now, it’s usually recommended to use naturally tender cuts such as ribeye or tenderloin for pan-seared steaks.
But trust me, sirloin tip steak can also excel in this quick cooking method.
The key is to go through a few meat tenderizing techniques, including:
- Pounding the meat with a meat mallet or tenderizer
- Marinating the tenderized sirloin tip steak for at least 6 hours
- Searing each side of the steak very quickly (only for a minute or two)
After following these steps, allow the steak to rest while covered for about 5 minutes, cut it thinly against the grain, and you’re bound to enjoy a very tender steak!

2. Oven-Roasted Sirloin Tip Steak
If you want your sirloin tip steak to be juicy, not just tender, I highly suggest trying my go-to oven-roasted sirloin tip steak recipe.
This dish is really the epitome of no-fuss cooking.
After all, you only need pantry staples, such as herbs, olive oil, salt, and pepper, to season the meat. Plus, the oven will do all the cooking after you prep the steak!
Note, though, that since this dish is seasoned very lightly, it’s meant to be served with flavorful sides.
So, if you plan to cook oven-roasted sirloin tip steak for dinner, make sure to also whip up bold sides such as air-fried veggies to enjoy a well-rounded meal!

3. Sirloin Tip Steak Bites With Potatoes
Wanna cook a one-pan steak meal that doesn’t require sides to enjoy?
Let me introduce the classic family favorite: steak bites with potatoes.
Lean cuts are the best for this dish, and sirloin tip steak just happens to fit the bill perfectly.
For best results, make sure that your steak cubes are only an inch thick and allow them to marinate for at least 15 minutes before cooking.
In no time, you’ll have an amazing meal that’s perfect for dinner and also serves as a filling snack for the entire family to enjoy!

4. Steak Fajita Roll-Ups
Transform your cheap steak into an expensive-looking dish by cooking steak fajita roll-ups using your sirloin tip steak!
This dish is cooked by rolling very thinly pounded sirloin tip steak to wrap grilled pepper strips.
Unlike regular fajitas, you won’t need tortillas to enjoy this dish (it’s supposed to be a low-carb alternative).
So, just dip each steak roll into guacamole and maybe a side of sarsa to enjoy your meal!
As a foodie, though, I love adding extra sides whenever we cook these steak fajita roll-ups.
When I want to preserve the “low-carb” aspect of this dish, I serve these roll-ups with low-carb sides like cauliflower rice and avocado salad.
But if I just want to indulge in good food, my favorite sides are Mexican street corn and Spanish rice.

5. Sous Vide Sirloin Tip Roast
Do you consider yourself impatient?
Well, this recipe won’t be exactly ideal for you.
However, if you want to mimic the juiciness of ribeye and tenderness of tenderloin, there’s no better dish to try than sous vide sirloin tip roast.
By sealing the beef in a vacuum-sealed bag with a marinade and cooking it sous vide for 36 hours, you’ll achieve a steak dish that’s so incredibly tender that it melts in your mouth with every bite!
I typically begin the sous vide process for this dish on Thursday mornings. That way, we can have a steakhouse-quality steak for Friday dinner!

Say Yes to Economical Cuts
Unlike the celebrated top sirloin, sirloin tip steak often suffers from a negative reputation (despite their names’ similarities).
But take it from someone who has befriended every butcher in town—every meat cut can shine with the right recipes!
Just remember, whenever you’re dealing with cuts that are naturally “tough,” such as sirloin tip steak, you always gotta take an extra step to help the meat tenderize.
Typically, this involves either pounding the meat, marinating it before searing, or taking the extra step to cook it low and slow for over a day!
